50 years have passed this year since our „primás“ left us, after he had succeeded in bringing fame to the name of Myjava – here and abroad. He was a remarkable fiddle player and ethno-musicologist, an important figure in the Myjava region, with a strong influence to how folklore music and traditions are aproached even today.

His fiddle used to make the heart sing, and the same sound of fiddle paid tribute to him now. The concert took place on the day of his birthday, October 28th, and it brought together music bands and folklore ensembles, such as Kýčer, Kopaničiar, Myjavská cimbalovka (Myjava Dulcimer Band) and ľudová hudba Dudíci („Dudík“s folklore band) where the grandson of Samko Dudík played together with other 94 musicians.

The Slovarm company is a long-term supporter of culture in the town of Myjava, and of the Kopaničiar and Kopaničiarik (Kopaničiar for kids) folklore ensembles. Slovplast Myjava joined the good effort last year, expressing thus the willingness of both partners to help in developing the culture life in Myjava region.
