There were eighteen NGO representatives present at the official act, supervised by the Mayor of the Myjava town.
The financial gifts were delivered from SLOVARM, SLOVPLAST and Bytový podnik Myjava through the hands of their representatives:
Mr. Bohuslav Koči – General Dirrector of SLOVARM
Mr. Peter Šlahor – General Dirrector of SLOVPLAST
Mr. Andrej Obrtlík – statutory representative of Bytový podnik Myjava.
The tradition is ten-year long and it is focused on small organizations who help people in need, people who are ill, or socially handicapped, organizations who are active in local ulture and folklore and, of course, organizations who help children.
The functionality of non-governmetal organizations depends, to a great extend, on their funding and on the companies-sponsors who fund them. The shareholders of Energy Group decided therefore, as for the year 2017, to grant 7.000 EUR to the following recipients:
Myjava Hospital – voluntary blood donors; local organization of the Slovak Union of Anti-fascist Fighters, Myjava Seniors´ Club; Myjava Seniors´ Union; the Slovak Union of Physically Disabled People; the Women´s Union of the Myjava town; Myjava Social Service; Association for Mentally Disabled (ZPMP); Club of Personal Assistants in Organization of Chronically Ill; Slovak Blind and Partially Sighted Union; Education Centre for Romani People in Myjava; Khamoro Comunity Centre; Mothers´ Centre „Pampúšik“; Slovak Red Cross; organization for Tourism Development in „Myjavské kopanice“ region; the festival of Christmass in the Theatre; and the „Kopaničiarik“ folklore ensemble.
„Unfortunately“, as the Mayor of the Myjava town said in his speech, „there are not many business subjects willing to help in this way.“ On the other hand, the companies of Slovarm and Bytový podnik Myjava give thousands every year to support the NGOs, and last year, when it entered the EG group, they were joined by Slovplast Myjava.
According to what their representatives said, the nongovernmental organizations are going to use the money to improve their functionality and activities, such as:
The Department of Hematology and Transfusion in Myjava Hospital – to improve the conditions and quality of environment for blood donors,
Mothers´Centre „Pampúšik“ – to purchase equipment, enhance the inventory of the baby centre and to organize St.Nicolaus´Day and Christmas Party for the children,
Myjava Seniors´Club and Seniors´ Union – to organize various events for seniors,
The Organization of Chronically Ill, Slovak Blind and Partially Sighted Union, the Slovak Union of Physically Disabled People and all the other NGOs – to improve their functionality which is volunteer-based and unpayed for and, thus, depends on the donors.
